Soreness...

Well yesterday evening was quite the workout. I actually did it with my roomy.

This time we went up to the track that’s in the H.S. above us.

15 minutes, 46 seconds
1.5 miles, 6 laps around the track
1 mile in 9:40

I even did 3 laps without stopping to walk.

After which, we came back home and started with some weight exercises. The entire workout took about 3 hours. It was actually fun working out with a partner too.

Whoah

I went out with a couple of my friends today, and I came to a realization, during our lunch...

I may never have In N Out with her again...

.sad face.

But, something else came out from today...

Mizuno Wave Nexus 2

Looks like I commited myself to running with these. :)

Changes....

I think I did enough crying and sulking about what's going on. I think it's about time that I accept what's going on. Though we're still officially together, I should get used to the idea that we're not. That doesn't mean I'm giving up. Not at all. It just means that I am preparing myself for when the day comes that it is over. With that, I decided to pick up something I've never done before...

I found a website that has a particular kind of work out. It's called "Fit For Duty." It's a tough cardio workout designed by the military. I started doing some cardio stuff on Sunday. I'm going to continue with them. I think it'll help me, not only get in better shape, but keep my mind busy and occupied so I don't, well, you know...

When I would do a slight workout in the past, I'd feel sore, obviously, and say to myself, "I think I'll start again when I'm not sore anymore." Then, I just forget about it and not do anything.
Well, not anymore. I'm sore as hell today and it feels good. I didn't do anything Monday, but I repeated that same workout this morning after work. I even ran.

Yeah, you heard me right. I ran. Granted it was a pathetic run, but I did it. The above picture shows my running path. It was about 1.5 miles. Another thing to note, is the H.S. there is on a pretty big hill, so there was a lot of uphill running. All that took me... 21:47. Yeah yeah, go ahead and laugh.

Sore limbs sometimes feel so good.

Question, have any of you tried guessing what that "change" is that I mentioned a couple of posts before?

Once

" Isn't it beautiful to walk in each other's hands. I do so want to go, to your city, your house, into your arms."

Saturday was an odd day. Though most of the skies over L.A. were clear, there have been reports of rain, hail, and even snow. What? Snow? Yes. That's what I was question. It was said that over in... I believe it was La Crescenta, slight snow was falling. Weird.

Thanks to Kina, I watched one of the most beautiful movies ever. Once is a modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story. Touching.

I wish...

6:25 am.

You know. I don't think the purpose of this journal was for me to cry about what I'm going through and what I'm feeling. I have LiveJournal for that. With that in mind, I think I will go back to just talking about random things and pictures.

I was talking to one of my clerks this morning about Starbucks, and she mentioned that her sister was given a gift card for that place. Here's the thing... is a person really going to give someone a gift card (to anywhere) for $3? I mean... THREE bucks. That's not even enough to cover MY drink. Wow...

So anyway, when she mentioned that, I remembered I had a gift card in my wallet. Who knows how long it's been in there. I check online for the balance, and it turns out I have a good balance on it. You know with that, I'm going straight there after work. I also bought 2 other people drinks, the clerk I was talking to, and a girl that has her birthday today.

So this week, I've noticed the strangest thing going to and from work. It's along the freeway, the 110 to be exact. I must say, it's very distracting. The first time I saw it, I had to do a double take, and with that, I found myself very close to the railing. Whoah, close call. I talked to fellow coworkers who come the same way, and a few of them also found themselves swerving because they got distracted.

I suppose you want to know what it is.

Well, how about I just show you. I pulled myself off the freeway to film this.

Weirdness. It's there when I go to work just before midnight, and when I go back home in the morning.

I feel bad for not posting any photos this time. I haven't really been in the mood.

Amazing show...

I am still wide awake from the high of last night's show. Wow. Simply... wow! What an amazing show! Foo Fighters simply rocked the place down. I'm thrilled I finally had a chance to see one of my favorite bands of all time. I always see performance online or on TV and it show they are full of energy. Honestly, they surpass that.

From beginning to end, the crowd was 100% into the show. It's always amazing to hear the crowd singing along word for word with the band, especially when the band stops and all you hear is the crowd.

I was always excited to see Pat Smear. He is so awesome to see live. The way he performs is so different, like he just loves to have fun on stage. He joined Dave back when the band started, though he eventually ended up leaving to pursue other things. He was asked to tour with The Foo's since he played guitar in their latest album.

I remember he was doing some whacky poses during some songs. He's always done that even as far back as when he and Dave were in Nirvana. It kinda reminds me of a ragged doll being thrown around. Yeah, he throws his arms around every now and then. He's just an awesome guitarist with a fun stage presence.

As for the rest of the show, I was a little surprised to see a smaller stage out in the middle of the floor. The reason? They wanted to play a few songs in acoustic in the middle of the arena. I thought it was an awesome idea, though we were definitely not close to where they were. We were 3 people deep away from the main railing in front of the stage, so when they went to the middle to perform their acoustic, we were nowhere close. I just relaxed and enjoyed what they had to offer. Here is a picture of the acoustic stage in the middle of the arena.

After which, everyone except for Dave left the stage. Dave stayed and started playing Everlong. I already knew that as Dave got to the end of the song, Taylor, Chris and Nate would join in to finish off the song strong. That's when Dave went back to the main stage to continue the rest of the hard stuff.

So the end is near, and we get another neat surprise. A special guest. Can you guess who it is?

The man needs no introduction, but I won't mention who it is. That's up to you to guess.
The crowd went insane when this guy came out.
Hint: Probot
Song played: Shake Your Blood

I was bummed out about one thing though. They said no cameras. If I would have made the slightest attempt to even bring mine is, I could have. Security mentioned no cameras, but really didn't check for them. Once inside, I saw flashes going off everywhere. Why didn't I try to bring it in? Grrr. It's ok though, I can find pictures from my night online somewhere, like the ones above. Full credit goes to Julio Meliani at Flickr.com.

This is the setlist of the night.

Ok. I think I am done. If you haven't seen Foo Fighters live, GO SEE THEM! Simply awesome! I will definitely go see them again, without a doubt.

So with the tradition of also adding videos, I just found this. It's from last night, the same show I went to. Foo Fighter's first song of the night, Let It Die!

2nd song of the night... The Pretender.

Extended weekend.

My weekend starts now. Yes, you heard me. It's only 6:00 am Thursday morning, but my weekend is now. I just got home from work, but it's already going to be a good day. Nothing really happened at work today, but what makes it good is what is happening tonight. Actually, I lied. Something decent happened at work. Salem has recently returned from surgery, so I've been taking care of her area and employees. She was late today, however, and I was supervising her people until she arrived. I received a couple compliments today from her own people that they like how I run her area. That's always nice to hear, isn't it? One of which even vented to me about how she doesn't feel she's being treated fairly. This happened as I was leaving, so I will have to talk to her about it Monday.

Anyway, what's happening tonight?

Indeed. The Foo Fighters!

They have been around since late 1994, and yet this will be my first time seeing them live. To top it off, I have GA floor tickets. I am debating if I should even try to take my camera in there. The tickets show "No Recorders/Audio/Video". That makes me think picture cameras are allowed, but then again, it's the Foo Fighters in an arena venue. I think I'll take it anyway. The worst thing that can happen is I will just have to walk back to my car to leave it there. Pat Smear is touring with them as a guitaris, so it should be fun seeing him as well. Opening for them is Serj Tankian. I do like some System of a Down tunes, but I'm not to into Serj's solo stuff. Maybe seeing the songs live will change my mind. We'll see.

I've been in a musical mood lately. Yeah, even during the weekend when I was under the weather. So what did I do? I recorded myself playing a song on guitar. Ignore the poor video quality.

Now I know what you're thinking. "Wow, this is horrible." Yes, I know. I'm a drummer, not a guitarist, so I know I sound bad playing guitarist. I played this song because it's an easy song to play, yet my fingers can't get the chords. Can you guess what song this is? Here's a hint: South Africa.

Zoom...

So I am feeling better. I was just going through some emotional rocks on the road, but I think I've driven past them for the time being. Hopefully this will last for a while, as feeling under the weather sucks.

After work this morning, I decided to stop by one of my favorite places. I was the first one to purchase a drink today. Why is that so important? It's not, I don't know why I mentioned it. Don't mind me.

As I was arriving home, I noticed the sky. I live over on a hill, so the colors of the sky over the distant hill look awesome. I'm glad I took my camera with me, so I managed to take a photo of the sky. What do you think?

I love the purple-ish colors. I think sunrises are just as awesome as sunsets. It's just a matter of when, where, and how you capture them.

A salad that makes their panties drop...

I'm really in no mood to update my blog at this time, so I will leave you with this instead.
